Sorry Aaron, I really don't know the value of these antiques, I just open and service them! Might talk to an antique dealer about valuation. Thanks for taking a look!

Hi Franz, thanks for watching our video. You can find a locksmith in your area by doing an internet search. Just be careful, look for someone that has been established for a significant time. Look at actual local listings rather than ads. Good luck with your opening! Serach for safe and vault technician or opening. You may also have luck with http://www.savta.org/savta_tech.php.

Hi Carol, thanks for taking a look at our video! Unfortunately I have no idea where you would have to go for one of those locks. As I recall, it is a safe deposit style lock. What I can't say for certain is if a contemporary lock will retrofit into your safe. I would find a local locksmith that provides safe services and ask them to take a look at it. It's going to be a hands on job! Good luck!

I have a Norris Safe & Lock CO. safe that is old as time. I have the combination (I know it is correct cause I used it before). Trouble is I cannot remember the correct pattern to it. If I remember right it is CW, CCW (x2), CW (x2), then CCW. Have you had any experience with these old safes? I tried opening it today and had no luck. Not sure if I'm resetting it properly

Curtis Hi, and thanks for your interest in our videos. Norris Safe and Lock is likely a distributor rather than a manufacturer. At least that name does not ring a bell for me. Depending upon the type of lock on this safe, there are a variety or dialing sequences possible. The most common over the past 50-60 years is 4x CCW, 3X CW, 2X CCW, 1 CW to the dead stop of the dial. This would be the first sequence I attempted if I were diagnosing your safe. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Did I miss something? The video starts with it already being open, and some people are talking about the contents. That doesn't explain HOW it got open.

I would discourage spraying anything inside of it, this can complicate things in a safe lock. If your safe has a key, it is something different than the one pictured here. Where are you located, I might be able to recommend someone with a little more knowledge than you have spoken to locally. While it is convenient to know the manufacturer, it is not necessary for a good safe technician.

Well, we're trying to figure out how to open Mom and Dad's safe she bought at an estate sale 40 years ago. At that time, the safe was owned by someone who died at age 92, so it's expected to be 60-80 years old. They each have a key, but when we insert either key, it feels sticky and won't turn. I'm thinking that having a locksmith come out to make a new key is pointless, since we have the correct keys already. And the locksmiths have said they need a brand name. The whole thing is the color of very dark iron, like something off a pirate ship, and there's no brand name, unless it's inside or underneath, but I can't lift it to see underneath. I"ve been told that my brother already tried WD40, though I"ve been thinking of doing that again.

ikbydk Thanks for your interest! no, you didn't miss anything. This was quite literally the opening of the door of the safe. We can't ethically demonstrate the procedure used to gain entry on an open forum such as YouTube. Thanks for watching!

thanks for the reply, ijust purchased mine yesterday and am not having luck with the combo, after moving it twice yesterday I may have just bought a nightstand because I am not planning on moving it again. lol

I don't blame you! That is why I don't offer moving services, just opening and repairs. I don't know where you are located, but call a local locksmith and they will get some diagnostic information so they can give you a price to open. You never know what might be inside...

Hi Dave--This safe had an unmarked dial on it. It was a straight tailpiece style lock. I did not weigh it, but I scooted it. Can confirm it was heavy. :)
