And what about hospitals? I know that they have generators, but.. if the generators have not been serviced or anything in that realm. People who are on life support will have to be bagged ( I know that there’s a assload of trolls on here) who will not know what I am referring to. But if you don’t have qualified people, or you have immoral people. Humans will die! We live in a evil world unfortunately. And I suggest that everyone needs to become a prepper, if ya not already. Use your heads For something other than a hat rack! Think about not only what you & family will need for a minimum of 3 months. And think about every single thing that people use / need every day to live. And money will not be worth a damn thing! So think about people and their vices, things that you can barter with. I

those with a clue will buy a portable generator and the fittings to plug it into their breaker box... just like I did when an ice storm took out my power for a week... less than 200 bucks... of course the peasants will be left out in the dark

*To tell you the truth, I'm all for PG&E! California has chosen to go all in on extreme far left policies, so let them suffer the consequences. In a rational State, they'd fix the damn lines, and clear the brush that's near their equipment - but because these people have said it's ok, PG&E can get away with putting the maintenance costs into their pockets, they have literally put themselves into this position. Fuck 'em.*

*Try this shit in a Free State, and watch what happens!*

The story of the CA fires is much bigger than PG&E, and far more sinister. (The comments appended to this article are interesting:

*No. Negligence. Maintaining your equipment and clearing nearby hazards are part of the business model: they have been allowed to do whatever the hell they want through the completely corrupted State, and this is just the next logical step. This is no different than their "Sanctuary" crap. They won't jail or allow the jailing/export of illegals, so when illegals commit crimes, it becomes a big old circle jerk. The problem here IS the government of California.*

*California is the best possible example of why a pure Democracy doesn't work, **_ever._** Until or unless California gets their head straight, and decides to behave like grown ups, this endless pile of crap will continue to rain down upon them - and they'll get not one whit of sympathy from me!*

Hey Rick, There are A lot of other cost to the tax pair a buddy of mine works for Sonoma County and had to man emergency services response 24-7 due to this outage. PG&E has not managed maintained or taking care of their power FOR YEARS. I lived in Sonoma County when the fires occurred after the fires were put out the number of tree trimming crews on the streets trimming trees back from the power lines was on believable every other mile there was a crew trimming trees back never seen that before the fire. You are 100% correct they are Using this outage to blackmail the taxpayers of California typical government typical monopoly they should do what they did to AT&T back in the eighties

Why are the fires always in California? Because they make environmental policy based on what the tree huggers want and not what is safest or the best for people. California is a shit hole. I wish the folks fleeing that shit hole would quit voting like shit heads when they got to Texas. Take care of yourselves folks!

                                                  Here's my take.

PG&E creates a power grid and they do a really good job running a power business for decades without any major problems

Over the years California passes assorted environmental regulations which, in part, prevent PG&E from maintaining their power lines properly because they need permits to cut the trees around their lines and they can't string new lines for the same reason. Goodness knows we mere humans are destroying enough of the environment with CO2, How dare PG&E have the audacity to want to harm defenseless trees.

Eventually, the forrest over-growth, lack of maintenance and some high winds result in a forrest fire which completely destroys an entire town.

Rather than admitting their part in the disaster the State of California blames PG&E and decides to sue them out of existence. At this point PG&E starts cutting power durning high winds due to safety concerns.

I'm NOT saying PG&E is blameless but I can completely understand their frustration with the State of California.

Just one old guys thoughts from dealing with California regulations for 20 years.

                                                    @Kathy Childress ,

Because I had to deal with the ever changing landscape of California's assorted regulations and I can understand how PG&E may have simply become frustrated with jumping through all the special hoops and checking all the right boxes just so they could get permission to trim some trees or pull some new cable, doesn't equate to me "feeling sorry" for anyone or any thing.

Business is business for me, emotional reactions aren't a part of it.

But, people generally don't understand the issues you face when you run a business, they seem to think it's all about ripping people off all the time.

Regulations, taxes, an the blizzard or BS you run into costs money to comply with.

( Hydro one is the electricity company in Ontario nowhere else) but they charge us five times the amount for electricity than any other province in Canada how that's legal I have no they sell the surplus electricity to the states for pennies on the dollar... I guess we're the ones stuck paying for that... Literally Hydro one sells our electricity to you guys cheaper than they do us 😒
