  • Step by step instructions on how to dial open all group 2 mechanical combination safe lock, the easy way. Works on all Group 2 from Sargent & Greenleaf, La Gard, Kaba.

40 years of telling people how to open locks over the phone, I hope it works as well on youtube.

For decades group 2 locks like the S & G and LaGard type were the locks of choice virtually every safe manufacturer in the world, including American Security (Amsec), Cannon, Browning, Fort Knox, Liberty, to name a few.

Hi, my name is John Dean and I'd like to show you an easy way to open up a group two lock whether it's an S&G, Lagard, Kaba, doesn't matter. All the group two locks open up exactly the same way. Now the first thing I want you to do, trick number one is I want you to write down left, right, left, right and then next to that, four, three, two, one, that's the sequence that we are going to be using to dial this safe open, right now.

To follow our sequence first thing you do is, you turn it four times to the left. You sneak up on your first number, in this case it's fifty, and you want to make sure that the crows foot is directly above it, ignore the other mark, this is the one that counts.

Our second number is twenty-four you pass Twenty-four once, going to the right, pass it twice, and we're going to stop at twenty four our third time. Bang there we go. Our last number is sixty-five you pass sixty-five, once, you stop your second time.

    We're almost home.

Now you go to the right, and right about, somewhere, between ninety-five and five, it kind of pulls itself in, and you want to pull it a little further, it'll stop somewhere between eighty-five and ninety-five, now that's retracting
the bolts, at this point this safe is unlocked, and you just open it up.

Now one last note in locking the safe, all group two locks, you must turn them to left four or more times, if you don't do that you're safe is a really locked and it can be easily manipulated opened. Now by the way, if you want these instructions in PDF form, I'm going to put in a link over here on the information thing, on the little more info, so you can go directly and print down a PDF.

Watch the video couple of times you'll get the drift of it, it's pretty easy to do.

    Thank you very much

      I've never seen a safe combination with more than five numbers. Most would be 3 number like "## x ## x ##", a few safes would be a four number "## x ## x ## x ##" Need more information to help.

Dean, its rare that I comment on videos but owe you a public thanks for this one. I was given an old Mosler that I have been trying to open for 2 years now (almost sold it an one point because I was sick of it) I have spent hours and hours trying different variations of the combo but for whatever retarded reason, couldn't open it until I watched this. And actually I owe a thanks to my GF as she suggested YouTube and after we watched it, she walked right out and opened it on the first try and I nearly fainted. Thanks man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fred davie Star change their name to American security products and they’re alive and doing well.

Virtually all of their safes use group 2 locks and open up exactly this way. You may have an incorrect combination. If you happen to have around doors safe followed the instructions the same way but at the end when you come up to zero push it in and then continue turning to the right. This is about the only exception I’m familiar with. All else fails give Amsec/American security products your call I’m sure they will help you.
PS their imported fire safes are a bit different.

Try dialing the combo and add a 1/2 a number on each of your numbers (your number is 40 dial 40&1/2 and so on). Then a half a number low (39&1/2) and so on. Then 1 full number higher and so on. We do this first when we go out on a job, some times the combo drifts if its used too much or if it gets bumped, etc. Try this first, the next step is too call a lock tech.Good lock,John

First contact the Manufacture and give them the serial number of your safe. With any luck, they will have the combo on file. The other option is to find a local safe technician to drill or manipulate the safe open.Good luck and thanks for watching,John

Your going to need some help from a safe Tech... You may want to go to Clearstar "https://www.clearstar.com" where many of us safe nuts and experts hangout. most of it is restricted due to the subject matter, But I think there is a place where you can ask questions and maybe post a photo of you safe. You may want to check out the members list/Yellow pages on Clearstar to see if you can find one in your area. By the very sorry to hear about your Father passing away.

+Sachie Reid Most safes have a lock like The one shown. Your best tact is to first call the manufacture give them the serial number of your safe. They may be able to help you out with the original factory combination.
Most combination locks of this type have three pairs of numbers.

These videos on youtube are teaching the thieves how to open the safe, no point in buying a safe when someone in these videos are explaining how to open them.
