Why do a lot of the cameras that come through here not have artificial intelligence?

If I get the $10 a month professional 24/7 monitoring option; How will ring trigger dispatch to come over? Do the “Ring Indoor Cameras” and “Ring Stick Up Cameras” trigger motion and set off the siren and call dispatch? Or will it send a notification to my cell and if I don’t disarm after an X amount of time; I will receive a phone call and if that call isn’t answered then ring will send dispatch? Can the cams set off the siren or is it just the door/window sensors and motion detectors? Thank you.

            Hello,
So the monitoring team won't immediately call dispatch- your second guess is correct. They will send a notification to you first. If you don't respond, they'll contact you and if you don't respond to that, then they can livestream footage, verify an emergency and call dispatch. You can decide when the siren goes off in the Ring app. For more information, see my written reviews of the Ring Cameras:

I think you'll be able to self monitor with Ring Alarm in the Caribbean, but there's no professional monitoring available. More info here: http://bit.ly/2NKQjUK

The motion detector detects heat moving around in the form of infrared light the Burglar can use a survival blanket over his head and body and that detector will not see him or he can just put a sheet of cardboard the size of his body in front of him these things are totally useless and the burglars love it because you have told them what system you have by advertising the company name

lol, not sure how you get passed the entry and glassbreak sensors with a giant piece of cardboard. I use ring for entry detection and primarily for its battery backup as I have a wired camera setup with exterior cameras. Having two separate systems is the way to go as the cameras on these DIY systems are pretty garbage compared to what you get with a basic NVR. The motion detector is literally only there in case everything else fails, you really want to know what is going on before they are in your living room with you. Security is about redundancy, the camera motion sensor didn't go off? Ok, hopefully ring will go off. The power went out, ok hopefully the battery backup will alert you. Everything failed and they are in the house, at least they are cautiously walking behind a giant piece of cardboard and a space blanket. Kind of hard to miss if ya know what I mean.

The door contacts are totally useless a burglar use a stronger magnet on the outside of the door and then they don't work try it it for yourself

Force security any system that works on radio waves can be jammed check Google and YouTube for radio jammers starting at $6 it is not worth wasting your money on these useless systems against the Burglar yes of course they will keep your neighbour out and people walking past but it has made it very easy for a burglar to break in if the radio signal is jammed nothing can detect the Burglar so nothing will call out

1st off, great review. I also watched the video for the SimpliSafe system as well. So, I’ve been doing some research on DIY securities systems, and the top two that I like are Ring and SimpliSafe. Now it’s decision time. I already have a ring doorbell pro. So I guess you can say I’m leaning towards that particular system. Based on your hands on review, which would you say is the better of the two?

Security Baron thanks for your response. Yeah I think I’ll go with ring. Oddly enough I checked out your side by side comparison of ring and Simplisafe this morning. Thanks again. Continued success.

I really think it depends on what you're looking for, but considering you already have the Ring Video Doorbell Pro, it would probably make sense to go with Ring so that you can deal with everything in one app. I actually did a comparison of SimpliSafe vs. Ring that I think could be helpful: http://bit.ly/2D2Mq9n
In general, Ring is more affordable than SimpliSafe in terms of professional monitoring and equipment. You can also skip a paid plan and still use the app, which is not the case with SimpliSafe.

It may be cool to point out the fact the “5” on the tactile keypad is depressed rather than raised, similarly to a keyboard/adding machine keypad to indicate the center of the numbers. Super useful in stressful or obstructed (smoke) direct view of the keypad.

From Ring- "To answer your question, Ring will work in many places or countries as long as it is connected to a strong network or WiFi. But if you are using it in the Philippines, Ring will work only for real-time monitoring and adding subscription plan is not yet possible as Ring have not yet launched the Ring video recording services in the said country.

You will still be able to view the camera live, as well as receive notifications for events. You will not be able to access recorded videos without a Ring Protect Plan."

I had a ring doorbell. It sucked. The picture was blurry, I had major problems with their tech support setting it up and working with me on the blurryness. They finally sent me out another after a few weeks. Same issue. Then they sent me out another where the doorbell button did not work. Three months later I purchased a Nest and I love it. I wasted so much time with Ring. They are horrible. My advise to you if your considering purchasing a ring doorbell. STOP!! Dont. Get a Nest or another one a Nest, Geeni, or Notifi, my family and friends have the other ones and love it. I know of two other people who had camera problems/issues with Ring. Hope this helps.

These Ring products are HIGHLY over-rated! The audio and video signals are not clear. The audio cuts in and out to the point where conversing with the person at your door is simply not possible. The video gets pixelated and is difficult to view. The camera itself is sub-standard. Anything within 10 feet is clear but beyond that it's just a blur. You would think with today's camera lens technology Ring could provide a more distant clear field of view. But it does not. Anyone or anything that causes the alarm to kick in - and is more than 10 feet away from the Doorbell may as well be wearing a disguise because you will surely not be able to discern who or what it is that set off the alarm. Then there's the latency between the time the Camera triggers an alarm and the time when you actually get to view the video. So long that any perpetrator would have stolen your packages and be in the next town! And then there's the unexplainable drops in connection. Complete loss of video and audio. Ring techs can't even figure out how to solve this problem. And NO, it's not because my wifi speed is too slow or my wifi router is too far away. I run at 300mbps and I'm only 50 feet from my camera. And now I just discovered that my video recording will cease after a few days and RING wants me to pay a monthly fee for a feature that was clearly offer to me as part of my purchase. It's a SCAM! The product just simply does NOT perform as advertised. I feel like I have wasted hundreds of my hard earned dollars on a security system that is more trouble than anything else. It's actually a joke or better yet - a Ring SCAM! Do not purchase any Ring product. They simply do not work.☠️

Question: If I were to place a motion sensor in my detached garage, would it sound base alarm inside my house (assuming it was turned on "armed"?) or would it just send a notification to my phone?

I do not believe that the contact sensor needs to be placed on the door nor must the magnet be placed on the door frame. Installing it the other way around works fine. In fact, there is a picture of a contact sensor installed in this manner on ring.com's website:

Is there a hardware refresh coming soon? Or safe to buy now?

They haven't made any announcements, so I'd say it's definitely safe to buy now! Here's the Amazon link: http://bit.ly/2UpPNRD

Thanks for this very informative video. Recently received the Ring alarm, having purchased it on Prime Days. I also purchased additional entry sensors and motion detectors, glad that you said to add components one at a time.

Will ring be adding a duress code like how simplisafe has where it sends secretly to company warning of a pending situation

@Security Baron If you are held hostage you can enter a code that will deactivate the alarm but still tell simplisafe you are under duress.

You can set off the alarm via the keypad or the mobile app, if that's what you mean. This is basically a virtual panic button.

Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean...can you give me an example of a "pending situation"?

Hopefully you can answer this. Do I need the ring bridge if I have a ring hub?

Nope, if you have the base station you're all set. For more info, see my written review of Ring Alarm here: http://bit.ly/2NKQjUK

RUNNN!OK, I am a verified customer. This is system is terrible. Only good for a small studio apartment. If you have a home or condo with an upstairs or down stairs forget it. Weak wifi signal based, erratic sensors, and required 4 hours of Ring support and still not resolved. Sorry, this is only a system for small spaces.
