Dave, Choga? I totally agree, no "you ain't crazy! Also at the beginning you said something about 'spouses thinking y'all are crazy buying outdoor bushcrafting gear," in your case I say "what's wrong with adding 'one more year to your thirty years' of junkin, keep on doing it!" Also we all know you and Nick, is there a better half and or daughters that also share your passion for bushcrafting but don't like being filmed or is it just you & Nick?

hi Dave I've been watching your videos and I enjoyed it so much... I was watching the show just this very minute about your cooking wares... may I suggest that you do a documentation of one and every tools and creation you've made kind of make a log of everything with a description on how to set it up and the usage... and later down the line you might want to ask somebody/or you yourself write a book about it... not only that you are documenting that you have thought and made/create it yourself because who knows you might be able to claim for a some kind intellectual rights for what you have invented/created or better still contact some patent lawyer or an inventor some kind and see if there is anything that you can do to claim any monetary compensation for the things you did.nevertheless a book could be a great idea... I myself would buy it ..I promise...just a thoughtI never never do this like send a comment on anything in the internet (I am a very private person) but I cant stop my myself in sharing to you and Nick what I thought...this is Karen/Jeanne  want to make sure you are reading this :)

Feel free to ignore this since I am female but... Why not gather the 1970's back pack and make a starter kit for a giveaway? Then you will have a tiny bit more shelf space... until your wife calls the Charity truck for a pick-up!

Hey Dave! I got inspired to clean up my gear area of the garage and started copying your setup. It's really neat to see it all organized and labeled logically! I'm still recovering from my back injury so can only do one cabinet a day but I'm so stoked to see it all getting into small boxes and labeled. I'm going to be doing some handicapped bushcrafting this year as this is a long-term thing with me and having my gear easy to find and setup is a Godsend... Thanks my friend for a great video!

How do you protect your wool blankets from moths, I am under siege from them in London UK; we have had infestations for the last few summers. I don't buy anything with high content wool/merino these days.

    • Reallybigmonkey1

I never had a problem with moths. I guess mine  never stay stored long enough. Sunlight is the best killer of moth eggs.

funny, all the clothes we own yet we usually were the same each day.

  • The OUTSIDER

I like to have triple redundancy on all items of importance, but beyond that I like to have three of a thing. the best in the world Rolls-Royce version, the cheap as chips but works well throw away item and the midrange best compromise version, beyond that all choice only clouds the issue for me anyway. I like to clear out clutter, but that goes also with liking uniformity.

  • The OUTSIDER
    The OUTSIDER  4 months back

I've always liked seeing a bunch of the same item. I like to buy things by the case or box. I think the idea of having many repeats of something gives a sense of comfort. for me anyway.

If the house was on fire, what would you grab Dave? I have moved my entire life to a different country a few times and when faced with not being able to keep or save many things you were fond of is always the hardest thing. When I left LA I left behind Devilbiss compressor, Snap on tools and roll cabs, and many other things I had spent my life collecting. Two Harleys including a Pan head, and all my expensive guitars and many other things, it's hard, it weighs heavy on you for the rest of your life.Losing things and people is the hardest thing we face, Revel in your possessions whilst you can and never take them for granted, they could all be gone in a flash.I think that's the most important survival lesson going.

    • The OUTSIDER

Losing things, or people you rely on is the hardest part of life

    • Reallybigmonkey1
      Reallybigmonkey1   4 months back

I have no idea what I would grab and I know what you mean. A friend of mine worked a lot of overtime. He bought every different kind of camo, rifles, bows, fishing equipment just to lose it all in a house fire. After that fire? He pretty much gave up on life. No overtime, no buying, no hunting or fishing. It just drained all the get up and go out of him.

We all appreciate the gear and techniques you have shown us, especially all the things you've made yourself. You're right...I'm going to show this video to my wife. LOL Seriously, although I don't have nearly as much gear as you do, I have so much stuff that I've forgotten. I've actually bought duplicate items because I forgot that I already had them. I need to get better organized.
BTW, even in Indiana, we call the those hats Toboggans. Who knows what the millennials might call them? I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It reminds of all the stuff I have that I'll never use.
