Anytime he says "Okay we're going to take this down to the garage" you know it's about to go down

I would like to see if what would happen if you ground down a socket extension bar to the same shape as the keyway guard..could you just snap it out in a second

You must be lock manufacturers biggest nightmare. Now they have to beef up that screw and harden it.

I would like to see this attempted in a more realistic setting, such as with the lock in use on a door. I imagine the most difficult part would be getting the screw in without a vice.

Well done. You know I've come across a number of American padlocks with a retaining nut that wasn't hardened and fairly easy to drill the only thing I can figure is they must have been rekekeyed at one point and someone put a retaining nut in that wasn't hardened So generally I would recommend checking just in case you might get one that is not hardened making it easy enough just to center punch and drill it.

If there was a welded cover over that weak retention cover. Then how good of a lock would it be? Would you still be able to pick it?

Possibly drilling a bigger hole in the core and driving a sized high grade bolt in that hole would allow significant force to be applied with no damage to the screw?

Just an idea.....could you spp the lock first then do your destructive attack ? Kind of a last hurrah.

The biggest design flaw: it does net have easily accessible screws that could help the lock from being destroyed.

I will bet that core puller is expensive too. All that precision and hardened steel. That American Lock did not have a chance, and that is a good lock. I wonder how it would have faired if the core didn't have that vunerability of that only so so retainer. That core puller would be cool to check out. I love fine tools like that.
