I have been burgled (lol) and it doesn't matter how good the safe is if it can be easily carried off...I am 100% positive.

Get a short piece of large diameter pipe and put it in the "safe". Fill the outside with concrete and let it dry. You can then put a few important documents or rings or whatnot in the pipe and close the safe. Then drop it into the Challenger Deep for added security.

Aren't those meant more for things like files, birth certificates etc? It's called a fire safe not an anti thief safe

This is why you should get a safe that can be bolted to the floor and/or a stud in the wall. If it's too easy for the thieves to pick it up and abscond with it, they can just take it somewhere and cut it open at their leisure.

to be completely fair, fire safes aren't really for theft security. They exist to protect items from fire. I do agree with the Lawyer, though. They shouldn't be marketed as security safes.

frankly, any "safe" you can pick from a shelf and casually place in your shopping trolley as you wheel it around the store... ought to make you feel, at least, a tad suspicious.

This is like the Guy who just used a Big Magnet to open a safe by placing in a spot

Hey Jo, I know a place full of tools and no alarm system with a safe like that and its all ways full and doors with cheap locks a kid could open I know how we can take a paid vacation I IN say no more

This safe may be good for Fire Protection and now we see how ease it is to open if the front Keypad is destroyed by fire

What made you come up with the idea to try cutting it open as you did

And were you surprised just how ease it was

I'm used to my small safe I have that my grandparents bought me when I was younger, that has a fully steel body and slots in it that are designed to let you bolt it to the ground so it can't just be picked up and stolen. As a result, I really wasn't expecting this safe to be so shoddily constructed. It made me appreciate all the more that my grandparents actually sprung for a decent quality safe for a kid that wouldn't have known the difference at that age......

Thanks. Nice vid. Have you investagated opening these by using a magnet on the solenoid? I've seen a few videos claim a strong neodymium magnet can trigger the solenoid to open?

For instance, I bought a gun safe @Costco when a company was running a sale and demoing their products. I talked to the sales agent, and specifically asked about security such as how tough it would be to get in to it. He didn't try to lie about it, he said the main purpose of the safe is as locking fire safe for guns and documents. If you want a true safe, you need to have heavy walls and a well engineered secure entrance system. Walls should be a minimum of 1/8" of hardened steel. But, that's expensive.

                                                                            • James V.

It's a fire safe - that's all. It doesn't need more than a latch. I am really pissed off that mine has a combination lock. I'd disable it if I could. All I want is to protect documents from fire and be able to open and close it easily.
